The founders of ScienceLogic served their careers in information technology and experienced one consistent frustration -- that the tools and software available for network and IT management were inefficient, high in cost, and low in value. Because of these factors, most IT professionals grow dissatisfied with the ability of available products to effectively solve the real-world issues that surround technology infrastructures and ongoing operational support mechanisms.

With enough money and resources, larger businesses could afford the astronomical costs of buying and managing a cobbled-together solution from five or six different vendors. But the majority of IT departments, faced with severe budget restrictions, have no choice but to use a collection of "ping" tools, home-grown apps, spreadsheets and/or databases and perhaps a thick-client application or two to manage their infrastructures.

We set out to change all of that.
