EM7 Database Dynamic Applications provide agentless database monitoring and can collect, event against and report on any specific set of data for use in operational and business analytics.

Data Collection Examples:

  • # of application/database transactions per second
  • # of application/database transactions occurring during a certain period of time
  • Percentage of table space available

This solution extends the EM7 monitoring technology to multi-platform databases. Currently supported: MySQL, MS SQL, Sybase, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and SAP.

Application performance trending and alerting is often difficult to establish without the help of costly point solutions and heavy agents. Furthermore many applications do not have well-defined SNMP support, thus requiring the database vendor management tool or creation of custom scripts. EM7 breaks down this barrier for both off-the-shelf and custom applications riding on top of the commonly used databases listed above.

The EM7 Meta-Appliances can be configured to give administrators a better understanding of business application performance and availability. In fact, any defined metric, as long as it resides on an accessible database, can be automatically collected by customized Database Dynamic Applications to produce reports for trending, capacity planning and operational intelligence. Integration with EM7 Event Management enables users to easily define alerts and escalation policies for the collected metrics.

EXAMPLE: Resource Metrics for an Avaya Phone Switch

  • Set up EM7 to pull "Call Volume to the Help Desk" and "Call Volume for Sales" from the PostgreSQL database for the phone switch
  • Graph resource metrics hourly, daily and weekly to show trends
  • Define alerts when Call Volume to the Help Desk grows over a specified threshold

Note: Not available in All-in-One Appliance models.
