Letter from Dave - 2010: Year of the Service Provider

Hand holding feather quill penLast month I announced that 2010 is "The Year of the Service Provider" at ScienceLogic. I am pleased to highlight two of our service provider customers who use EM7 to monitor their mission-critical business applications: CBTS (a division of Cincinnati Bell) and Fasthosts (the UK's #1 web host). While both of our customers are service providers in the traditional sense, virtualization and cloud computing are expanding the service provider model to include IT operations of both enterprise and government agencies who service internal "customers" in private cloud environments. Since EM7 was designed with service providers in mind, its single-pane-of-glass view, multi-tenant platform and integrated suite of network management solutions, are just some of the features service providers of all types use to help simplify IT operations.

Beginning in March, we'll be on the road again, showing EM7 G3 at FOSE and then in Las Vegas at Interop / InteropNet. Read more about the shows below and check our website and blog for product announcements and highlights from the floor. As always, we look forward to meeting you.

Best regards,

The Government Cloud - Learn More at FOSE

FOSE 2010 badgeThere’s still time to register for FOSE 2010, Government IT's biggest show of the year. This year, plan for lots of information around government cloud computing and IT modernization, the #1 priority for GSA's CIO. Innovative technologies like cloud computing are on the top of her project list.

We'll be in Booth 2620, showing the award-winning EM7 G3, our cloud-ready monitoring solution that enables you to monitor ALL of your assets wherever they reside - in private, public or hybrid clouds, as well as in data centers, mobile and remote assets. Talk to us about using EM7 G3 for monitoring and to see how you can avoid adding another point tool (and more complexity) as your agency develops its cloud strategy.

IT professionals can participate in our fourth annual survey of government IT trends and everyone can follow our blog for highlights from selected conference sessions and keynote addresses. Register today for a Free Expo Pass using VIP code VEN0247.

Hot Stage for InteropNet Las Vegas

Photo of AlejandroWhat does it take to get 35 IT professionals from 15 vendors (sometimes competitors) to work together in a warehouse for two weeks? Hot stage for InteropNet Las Vegas!

Alejandro Figueroa, the ScienceLogic Ambassador to InteropNet, is heading to his third hot stage to help set up, run and manage the world's largest temporary network. Alejandro explains what makes hot stage a great experience and some of the behind-the-scenes action that ensures a successful Interop show.

What is hot stage? It's the two weeks we spend in a warehouse setting up and testing the network and gear that will be used to run the Interop show. We build out the entire network, then tear it down and pack it on a truck that gets shipped to the show site. A week before the show, we arrive and set it up again with our fingers crossed that everything works again.

Who participates? Each InteropNet sponsor sends at least one engineer, so it's a gathering of great minds using the latest up-and-coming technologies. The knowledge exchange means we all pick up lots of tips and tricks that we otherwise may not receive anywhere else. It's a great group of volunteers who look forward to coming together twice a year.

Interop 2010 Technology Provider BadgeWhat's EM7's role at InteropNet? ScienceLogic is the official provider of network monitoring and help desk before and during the show. Afterwards, UBM (the show sponsor) will continue using EM7 to track tickets that are placed between the April Las Vegas show and the October New York show.

What's new this year? We'll be showcasing virtualization and cloud computing monitoring and will have a leaner, greener and more efficient network. EM7 G3 collector units and application servers will be virtualized and for the first time we'll be running dual stack IPv6/IPv4 networks.

After the snowstorms in Virginia, two weeks in California sounds like a vacation. HA! We work 10 - 14 hours a day to cram two months of work into two weeks. Yes, it's hectic and jam-packed, but we operate in an open and cooperative environment. Everyone gains from the experience, and we make a great team.

This is the third consecutive year that ScienceLogic has been chosen as the Official Interop Provider for Network Monitoring and Help Desk.
