Richard Chart
Founder and EVP, Operations

Adventurer at Heart: Meet Richard - Co-Founder and ScienceLogic "navigator".

If he had lived during the Age of Exploration, he would have been out sailing ships, fighting scurvy and exploring with the likes of Ferdinand Magellan, Sir Francis Drake and John Cook.

Sailing uncharted waters, proving the world is not flat, doing what was previously thought impossible (like developing a comprehensive yet affordable IT management solution) – these are all things that are right up Richard’s alley. His never-ending quest for knowledge and keen love of adventure are major factors in ScienceLogic’s commitment to continuous innovation.

Where have you lived throughout your life?
Cornwall, England
Columbus, Ohio
Sydney, Australia
Houston, Texas
DC Metro area

Which place was your favorite to live?
"Sydney. It is just the perfect balance of lively city with beautiful green space that surrounds the harbor – not to mention that the sun shines there 95% of the time."

What is your favorite thing to do when you aren’t at work?
"I love to travel, but my real passion is sailing. I grew up on the water in England, which is when I started sailing, but I really got into it when I lived in Sydney."

We hear that you may take a trip around the world on your boat. Tell us more:
"Well, I have two daughters, one is 7 and the other is 9. I want to take this trip while my girls are still young enough that they can stand to be with me for that long. But the plan for now is to start off toward the Caribbean and see where we go from there."

So what is your favorite aspect of EM7?
"I have to say that my favorite part of EM7 is the speed with which it delivers results. Within a few hours of deploying EM7 with a new customer, we are invariably rewarded with seeing their surprised reaction as EM7 lifts the covers on how their systems are performing."
