Letter from the CEO

Each time I write one of these messages I try to share with you all a bit about what I am thinking, especially as it pertains to some current activities at ScienceLogic. In this letter, I will touch on near-term activities and also provide some insight into my thoughts on our exciting future.

We are extremely pleased with the progress we have made with enhancements delivered in the latest version of EM7, Version 5. We listen carefully to customer feedback and blend those suggestions into our analysis of industry market trends as well as our constant efforts to add a significant dose of some "outside the box" creativity; I think you will agree that our results are quite impressive. In addition to the major new components available in V5, over 50 new unique enhancements are related to specific customer feature requests.

Some of the new V5 initiatives from our lab that you will benefit from in this release include a healthy dose of Web 2.0 technologies such as Ajax, Flex and Flash functionality within the user interface, significantly faster auto-discovery capabilities (down to a few minutes for an average class C size network), a huge improvement to our Business Dashboard Views, and lastly a unique new Network Map function that will aid in fault isolation, not to mention some beautiful eye candy for your flat panel NOC screens.

One of the new features in EM7 V5 that I am extremely excited about is the personalized Dashboard Views. First think of the key applications that help you run the business. Then let your imagination run wild and consider how this feature will enable you to visit with the business line managers and quickly create very powerful service level monitors dashboards for "run the business" databases and applications.

This new set of Dashboard tools will enable you to show your colleagues a very clear business value of IT with business intelligence dashboard capabilities, while enabling you to deliver a new set of service levels because you can monitor a very specific set of database and application transaction details that became available through the Database Dynamic Applications that we introduced in EM7 V4.2!

In addition, please take some time to explore our new EM7 training curriculum. A total of 4 new classes are now available, and each can be delivered in three venues - as an online training course, onsite at ScienceLogic headquarters in Reston, Virginia, or even as a customized training program delivered at your location. EM7 V5 has so many significant changes, I strongly encourage customers to consider training classes for their users to make the transition to V5 as smooth as possible. EM7 professional tuning services are also available to fully maximize the benefits of these new features. You will be profoundly amazed at how much value you can derive from ScienceLogic's tuning professional services.

Last, I wanted to provide a glimpse into the future. I spoke about my excitement about our business and the future of the marketplace. As you know the technical challenges and service delivery expectations continue on an upward path of complexity and towards 100% uptime guarantees; this combination of trends makes it more important for ScienceLogic to continue on our path of providing superior tools that assist customers in executing against operational goals in the face of current expectations. Good news is on the way! Because of our keen awareness to your plight and our continued innovation in product functionality, we are well on our way to delivering the next set of enhancements to EM7. Some of the new near-term initiatives in our lab that customers will benefit from in the next release include Business Service Management, Business Service Views, enhancements to EM7's distributed systems scalability and high availability, as well as a continued focus on very powerful and insightful scheduled reports.
