ScienceLogic® Adds Video Monitoring Capability to Its EM7 IT Management System

CHANTILLY, Va. - July 11, 2005

ScienceLogic® LLC today announced the addition of video monitoring capability to its EM7 Linux P2800(tm) and P1800-Linux(tm)Environmental Monitoring Systems. The ScienceLogic Linux P2800™ and P1800-Linux™ video-capable systems enable network administrators to monitor and protect valuable business assets and intellectual property by detecting unauthorized personnel or activity and preventing disasters in the data center.

ScienceLogic® LLC, whose revolutionary EM7™ System is deployed in networks throughout the government, military and commercial sectors, today announced the addition of video monitoring capability to two of its EM7 Environmental Monitoring Systems. The ScienceLogic Linux P2800™ and P1800-Linux™ video-capable systems enable network administrators to monitor and protect valuable business assets and intellectual property by detecting unauthorized personnel or activity and preventing disasters in the data center. The Linux P2800 device has an integrated camera that can be remotely managed and monitored, permitting a 180-degree view of the data center. The P1800-Linux device includes video digitizing capability and supports the connection of up to four user-supplied analog cameras, including sophisticated night vision or low-cost CCTV cameras. The cameras can be configured to take a series of pictures whenever the motion or another sensor configured by the user is tripped. Pictures from the cameras are stored in the units' flash memory and can be viewed via the ScienceLogic EM7 System's web-based management portal.

"Organizations with a need to protect classified or proprietary data and/or critical equipment can utilize the real-time video function as a means of detecting unauthorized activity or personnel in the IT environment," said Louis DiMeglio, VP of Product Management at ScienceLogic, "or to determine the location and extent of fires or floods, for example, when alarms are triggered. Network personnel then can provide immediate notification of any threats to the appropriate security and/or safety personnel."

The Linux P2800 and P1800-Linux systems both can be integrated easily with the ScienceLogic EM7 System, a relational IT management solution that integrates IT management, security and compliance systems to dramatically improve the efficiency and accuracy of enterprise, network, and IT workflow management processes. The units utilize ScienceLogic's Instant Integration™ and patent-pending Dynamic Application Technology to incorporate the environmental and video monitoring capabilities into the EM7 System. In just minutes, IT professionals can begin receiving event information, notification alarms and video, based on customizable user-set thresholds, via the intuitive web-based portal interface of the EM7 System.
